As a founding member of the Swiss Society of Intensive Care Medicine (SGI) and former president of the SGI, PD Dr. med Peter Carl Baumann is an important witness of the times.
On 22 March 2022, P.C. Baumann visited IMK Ltd. We gladly accepted his offer to enrich the 50th anniversary brochure of the Swiss Society of Intensive Care Medicine (SGI) with his photographs and information from the past decades.
He did not miss the opportunity and handed over the pictures to us personally. He impressively explained, picture by picture, the progress and achievements of intensive care medicine over time. We are very grateful to be able to present many of his pictures in the brochure. The brochure will be published on the occasion of the SGI anniversary conference in September.
During a recent interview with P.C. Baumann, we asked him:
'Is there anything you would like to leave the SGI with for its 50th anniversary?'
'I wish for the SGI and intensive care medicine that it can continue to maintain and promote the positive spirit of interprofessional and interdisciplinary cooperation in and between intensive care units. This is what distinguishes intensive care medicine and I am sure it will enable it to successfully meet many future challenges.'
We will publish the full interview with P.C. Baumann on our website shortly.
